Your company's old data has real value.
M22 Data helps US companies license their old, unused or defunct data, such as Slack messages, emails, documents and project records, to AI developers. Everything is anonymized before any AI developer sees it, you keep ownership, and nothing happens without your signed approval.
Check your fit in 30 seconds.
A few quick questions show how well your company's records match what AI developers look for. Start with two, and the meter moves as you answer.
- No data is shared, only your answers
- Works for companies that are operating, winding down or closed
This is not a valuation. What your records could earn depends on what they contain, and we will talk you through it.
Everything is anonymized first.
Before any AI developer sees a single message, everything that could identify a person or a client is removed.
- 01
Names, email addresses and phone numbers are removed from every message, email and document.
- 02
Your staff, customers and clients cannot be identified from anything an AI developer receives.
- 03
You choose which systems and date ranges are included, and nothing moves until you approve it.
- 04
Passwords, payment details and similar information are never included.
Why AI developers want ordinary business records.
AI developers are building systems that do real office work: answering customers, running projects, writing quotes and handling the back office. To learn how that work is actually done, they need the records that real companies produce every day, and those are hard to find anywhere else.
Years of Slack messages, emails and project files often sit unused, in a system a company has moved on from or in a business that has closed. Licensed to the right AI developer, with everything anonymized first, that history can earn money instead of simply being stored.
The licenses go to AI developers and the specialist data companies that supply them, many of which are based in the US. M22 finds the right one for your records, arranges the license and stays with you until it is complete.

A short conversation
No data changes hands. We ask which systems you used, for how many years, and roughly how much there is.
- 02
We confirm the rights
We check that the company owns the data and has the right to license it, and who can approve the license.
- 03
You approve the terms
We find the right AI developer for your records and you sign off the terms. Everything is anonymized before any AI developer receives it.
- 04
You are paid
You receive the license fee. Our fee is set out in writing before you sign anything.
Handled properly, in writing.
- Every license is covered by a written agreement that sets out what is shared, how it is anonymized and what it may be used for.
- Federal and state privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, are followed wherever they apply, and we only go ahead where the company clearly owns the data and has the right to license it.
- M22 arranges the license but never receives or stores your data itself.
- Every license has legal review before anything is signed.
What people usually ask.
Will it identify our staff, customers or clients?
No. Everything is anonymized before any AI developer sees it. Names, email addresses, phone numbers and anything else that identifies a person or a client are removed.
Do we lose ownership of our data?
No. You license it for a defined use. The company keeps ownership, and the license sets out exactly how it may be used.
Who uses this kind of data?
AI developers and the specialist data companies that supply them. They use real working records to teach AI systems how businesses actually operate.
What is our data worth?
It depends on which systems you used, how many years of records you hold and how much there is. We won't quote a figure before we have spoken, and we will tell you honestly if we don't think there is demand for it.
How long does it take?
The first conversation takes about thirty minutes. After that, the timing depends on the AI developer and the size of the data, and we will give you a realistic timeline once we know both.
What does it cost us?
There is no upfront cost. We are paid only if a license is agreed, and our fee is set out in writing before you sign anything.
Can we choose what is included?
Yes. You decide which systems and date ranges are part of a license, and you can leave anything out.
Does it matter if the company has closed or is in bankruptcy?
No. Closed companies often hold years of useful records. What matters is who now has the right to approve a license, which may be the company's officers or a bankruptcy trustee, and we will help you work that out in the first conversation.
