Who can help a UK business roll out ChatGPT or Claude?
A UK business can roll out ChatGPT or Claude itself, since both are self-serve from two seats at US$20 to US$25 a seat a month, or get help from a vendor partner network, a Microsoft partner for Copilot, or a model-agnostic consultancy such as M22 Consultancy. The plan matters less than the rollout: policy, SSO, retention settings, connectors, a DPIA and training. M22 Consultancy plans that work with you, starting with an AI Audit from £1,500.
There are four routes: buy direct yourself, use a vendor's partner programme, use a Microsoft partner for Copilot or Azure, or hire an independent consultancy that works across models, such as M22 Consultancy. Which fits depends on how sensitive your data is and how much must connect to your systems.
The plans a UK business chooses between
US dollar list prices from vendors' own pages, seen 26 September 2026. Anthropic's exclude tax; OpenAI says its prices can vary by country and currency.
| Plan | Price | Seats | Admin and data controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Business (formerly Team) | $20 a user a month billed annually, $25 monthly; Premium $100 or $125 | 2 to 200 | SSO; no training on workspace data; SCIM and role-based access come with Enterprise |
| ChatGPT Enterprise | Not published; via OpenAI sales | By agreement | SSO, SCIM, domain verification, admin-set retention, Compliance API audit log, UK storage at rest |
| Claude Team | $20 a seat a month billed annually, $25 monthly; Premium $100 or $125 | 2 to 150 | SSO, connector controls, usage analytics, no training by default; no SCIM, audit logs or custom retention |
| Claude Enterprise | $20 a seat a month billed annually, plus usage at API rates | Minimum 20 (self-serve) | SCIM, audit logs, Compliance API, custom retention, role-based access, IP allowlisting |
| OpenAI API | Per token: GPT-6 Sol $2 in, $10 out per million tokens | None | No training by default; inputs kept up to 30 days for abuse checks unless zero retention is approved; UK storage for eligible customers |
| Anthropic API | Per token: Claude Sonnet 5 $2 in, $10 out per million tokens | None | No training by default; inference global or US-only; stored data in the US |
| Claude on Amazon Bedrock or Google Cloud Vertex AI | Billed through your AWS or Google Cloud account | None | Bedrock: Anthropic cannot see prompts; an EU profile callable from London keeps data in EU regions. Google: no training without permission; its global endpoint does not support data residency |
| Azure OpenAI in Microsoft Foundry | Billed on your Azure invoice | None | Prompts not available to OpenAI or used for training; regional deployments stay in your chosen geography |
Three details buyers miss. ChatGPT Enterprise can store data in the UK, but in-region inference is offered only in Europe, the US and UAE (OpenAI). ChatGPT Business residency is still rolling out, and abuse-monitoring copies stay in the US (OpenAI). Claude in Microsoft Foundry runs on a US data zone (Anthropic).
Who can help
1. Buy direct and do it yourself
For many SMEs this is enough. ChatGPT Business and Claude Team are self-serve by card from two seats, and a capable operations or IT lead can switch on SSO, set retention and invite staff without outside help. It works when nothing sensitive needs connecting and someone owns policy. You give up an outside check on permissions and adoption, which is where a firm such as M22 earns its fee.
2. The vendors' partner programmes
OpenAI runs the OpenAI Partner Network for firms that build, co-sell and deliver with OpenAI; partners include Accenture, BCG, Capgemini, KPMG and PwC. Anthropic's Claude Partner Network, launched 12 March 2026, is free to join, with tiers in its Services Track from Select up to Global Premier based on delivered work. The directory filters by tier and UK & Ireland location. The best-known partners are large integrators; joining is free, so ask for the tier and check it.
3. Microsoft partners, for Copilot and Azure
On Microsoft 365, the adjacent option is Copilot: the Business add-on is £16.10 a user a month paid yearly, excluding VAT (Microsoft). Partners with the Copilot specialization hold a Solutions Partner designation; find them in Microsoft's partner directory.
4. Independent, model-agnostic consultancies
These firms route each task to an OpenAI, Anthropic or Google model behind a thin layer, so you can switch when prices or quality change. M22 Consultancy is one: it works with UK businesses of every sector, handles the rollout and builds systems on top, such as workflow automation or a Company Brain, rather than stopping at advice. Judge any firm here, M22 included, on working systems and on who owns what they build.
What a proper rollout includes
| Step | What good looks like | When |
|---|---|---|
| Shadow-AI amnesty | Ask staff, without blame, which AI tools they use; move useful ones onto the approved plan | Week 1 |
| Approved-tools policy | One page: approved tools, what data may go in, who approves new connectors | Week 1 |
| Data classification | Three or four labels, such as public, internal, confidential and personal | Week 1 |
| SSO and SCIM | Sign-in through your identity provider; SCIM removes leavers automatically (Enterprise plans only) | Week 2 |
| Retention and training settings | Set how long chats are kept; switch off chat feedback where you can, since Anthropic and OpenAI may train on it | Week 2 |
| Connectors, permissions checked | Add sources one at a time; fix over-shared folders before connecting | Weeks 2 to 4 |
| DPIA under UK GDPR | Done before personal data goes in, vendor DPA signed | Before go-live |
| Staff training | Short sessions per team on real tasks, plus a champion in each team | Weeks 3 to 4 |
| Measure use | Weekly active users, time saved on named tasks; cut unused seats | Days 30, 60 and 90 |
On the DPIA: the ICO says one is needed before processing that is likely to be high risk, and that in the vast majority of cases using AI on personal data will trigger it (ICO). See our GDPR and AI guide.
ChatGPT vs Claude
We compare them in Claude vs ChatGPT for business. Standard seats cost the same at list price, and both say they do not train on business data by default. The model matters less than what it can reach: which files it is connected to, whether permissions hold, and who checks the output. Test both on 20 real tasks from last month.
How does M22 handle this?
M22 Consultancy is model-agnostic, so its advice on ChatGPT against Claude is not tied to one vendor. It starts with the AI Audit, a fixed fee from £1,500, which maps the checklist above to your business: who needs which plan, what must stay off the tool, and what is worth building on top once the rollout is stable. Where a build follows, such as workflow automation or a Company Brain, it runs on whichever model fits, with a person approving anything that touches customers or money, and the client owns the code, data and documentation. If your procurement rules require a vendor-certified partner, start with the partner directories above instead.

Questions people also ask
Is ChatGPT Business compliant with UK GDPR?
No tool is compliant on its own; your use of it has to be. OpenAI says it does not train on Business data by default and will sign a data processing addendum. Business data residency is still rolling out and abuse-monitoring copies stay in the US, so firms needing UK storage should look at Enterprise. Where personal data is involved, a DPIA comes first.
Do we need a partner to buy ChatGPT Enterprise or Claude Enterprise?
No. ChatGPT Enterprise is bought through OpenAI's sales team, and Claude Enterprise can be bought self-serve from 20 seats or through Anthropic's sales team. Partners, including M22, help with deployment, integration and training rather than access. Use one when you want outside hands and judgement, not because a vendor requires it.
Does M22 sell ChatGPT or Claude directly?
No. M22 Consultancy is model-agnostic and does not resell seats for either vendor. It helps a business choose, roll out and govern whichever plan fits, then builds systems on top of it, so its recommendation between ChatGPT and Claude is not tied to a margin on either.
How much does M22's AI audit cost for a rollout?
From £1,500, a fixed fee agreed before day one, sized to the business rather than to a set number of days. For a rollout, it maps who needs which plan, what data must stay out of the tool, and what is worth building once the rollout is stable.
Can we keep Claude data in the UK?
Not UK-only through Anthropic directly: its API offers global or US-only inference, and stored workspace data sits in the US. On Amazon Bedrock, Claude Sonnet 5 requests from London can use an EU profile that keeps data within EU regions. Check each model's regional availability before committing.
